Janua~ 14, 1997 <br />, <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to award a contract to <br />English Construction and to execute a task order for inspection and construction <br />administration services with CH2M-HilI, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />021 <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97-07 - Ordinance to appropriate $300,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund for <br /> the first phase of improvements to the heating, ventilation and air condition <br /> system at Churchland High School. <br /> <br />Motion to award a design contract to Smith TechnologY Corporation in the <br />amount of $100,000. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate a total of $300,000 from the Capital <br /> Improvements FUnd for this project. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />A thorough investigation into the HVAC system and controls at Churchland High <br />School revealed the need to upgrade the present system over a 2-1/2 year period <br />at a total cost of approximately $2,000,000. <br /> <br />It is recommended that $300,000 be appropriated at this time to begin work on <br />the first phase of these improvements which are scheduled for completion by <br />Summer of 1997. <br /> <br />It is also recommended that a contract for the Phase I design and overall project <br />preliminary engineering be awarded to Smith Technology Corporation in the <br />amount of $100,000. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />Design Contract (Smith Technology Corporation) <br />Phase I Improvements <br /> <br />$100,000 <br />$200,00O <br /> <br />TOTAL ANTICIPATED PROJECT COST <br /> <br />$300,000 <br /> <br />· This appropriation will be from the Capital improvements Fund, and with approval <br /> of this item, the balance in this fund = $2,626,783. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $300,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR CHURCHLAND HIGH SCHOOL AIR QUALITY <br />IMPROVEMENTS". <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to award a design <br />contract to Smith Technology Corporation for the first phase of improvements to the <br />heating, ventilation and air condition system at Churchland High School, and was <br />adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
