Q22 <br /> <br />January 14.1997 <br /> <br />97-08 - Ordinance to appropriate $40,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to <br /> replace the cooling tower in the city hall building and install a by-pass pump <br /> for the chill water system located in Data Processing. <br /> <br />Motion to award contracts to Baltimore Air Coil Company, W.O. Grubb <br />Company, and Electric Motor Contracting Company. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $40,000 from the Capital Improvements <br />Fund to replace the cooling tower in the City Hall building and install a by-pass <br />pump for the chill water system located in Data Processing. <br /> <br />· Motion to award bids to the following companies: <br /> <br />Baltimore Air Coil Co. (cooling tower) $26.960 <br />W.O. Grubb Co. (crane rental) 2,544 <br />Electric Motor Contracting Co. (by-pass pump) 1,365 <br /> <br />(The above vendors were the only bidders on each project, therefore no bid <br />tabulation sheet is needed.) <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The cooling tower in the City Hall Building is in need of replacement. <br /> <br />The chill water system in Data Processing is also in need of a by-pass pump. If <br />the current pump becomes inoperable, the air conditioning system in Data <br />Processing will be lost, thus causing the entire data processing system to be shut <br />down. <br /> <br />General Services (Properties Management) employees will provide installation for <br />both projects listed above. It is estimated an additional $6,000 will be needed for <br />electrical and plumbing parts (see Financial Impact). <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· An appropriation of $40,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund is requested as <br /> follows: <br /> <br />$26,960 <br /> 2,544 <br /> 1,765 <br /> 6,231 <br /> <br />Baltimore Coil Co. for purchase of cooling tower <br />W.O. Grubb Co. for crane rental <br />Electric Motor & Contracting for by-pass pump <br />Electrical and plumbing parts <br /> <br />$37.500 Project Cost <br /> 2,500 Contingencies (6.7%) <br /> <br />$40,000 Total Project Cost <br /> <br />· This approp dation will be from the Capital improvements Fund, and with approval <br /> of this item, the balance in this fund = $2,586,783. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,000 FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR HVAC IMPROVEMENTS TO CITY HALL". <br /> <br />Ayes: Berm. Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts. Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
