<br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to award contracts to
<br />Baltimore air Coil Company, W. O. Grubb Company, and Electric Motor Contracting
<br />Company to replace the cooling tower in the City Hall building, and to install a by-
<br />pass pump for the chill water system located in Data Processing, and was adopted
<br />by the following vote:

<br />97-09 - Ordinance to appropriate $35,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to
<br /> remove asbestos from the Cavalier Manor Recreation Center and perform
<br /> needed renovations.
<br />
<br /> Motion to award contract to WACO, Inc. for $6,400 for the asbestos removal.
<br />Recommendation:
<br />
<br />· An ordinance to appropriate $35,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund to
<br /> remove asbestos from the Cavalier Manor Recreation Center and perform
<br /> needed renovations.
<br />
<br />· Award of bid to WACO, Inc. for $6,400 to remove asbestos from the facility. (Bid
<br /> tabulation attached)
<br />
<br />Purpose and Need:
<br />
<br />· A total of $35,000 was included in a prior year's Capital Improvement Plan
<br /> authorization (1994/95) for improvements to the Cavalier Manor Recreation
<br /> Center.
<br />
<br />· The Cavalier Manor Recreation facility, located at 402 Viking Street, is in need of
<br /> renovations. These renovations were bid, however; the Iow bid was in excess of
<br /> $44,000.
<br />
<br />· By comparison, General Services employees will be able to perform the
<br /> renovations for an estimated cost of $28,600. (Bid tabulation attached)
<br />
<br />Financial Impact:
<br />
<br />· An appropriation of $35,000 from the Capital Improvements Fund is requested as
<br /> follows:
<br />
<br />$28,600 For renovations (performed by City) to include replacement of doors,
<br /> wood trim, demolition and installation of drywall, installation of floor tile,
<br /> and painting.
<br />
<br />$ 6,400 WACO. Inc. (Asbestos removal)
<br />$35,000 Total Project Cost
<br />
<br />· This appropriation will be from the Capital Improvements Fund, and with approval
<br /> of this item, the balance in this fund = $2,551,783.
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to adopt the following
<br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $35,000 FROM THE CAPITAL
<br />IMPROVEMENTS FUND FOR RENOVATIONS AND ASBESTOS REMOVAL FOR
<br />THE CAVALIER MANOR RECREATION CENTER".
