172 <br /> <br />said surveys is to be p~ai~d for on the basis of the Federal Government paying 50% of the cost <br />and the State and City 25% ~each. <br /> The State h~s estimated that the total cost for the survey for <br />the City of Portsmouth will be approximately $30~000.00 and the City's part amotmts to <br />$7~500.00. It will require .aporoximately one year to eomptete the survey and the fund is not <br />due and payable by the City un%il the survey has been completed. <br /> I recommend that an appropriation in the amount of $7~00.00 <br />be placed on its first reading for the City's portion of the survey~ to be included in the 19~ <br />budget." <br /> Motion of Mr. Howard to approve the recommendation and that <br />$7~00.00 be included in the 1951 budget for said purpose: was adopted. <br /> Sth - "I submit herewith a letter from A.E. Parker: City Col <br />lector, concerning an amen4ment .to the License Tax Ordinance covering certain types of motor <br />equipment licenses and I recommend that the City License. ordinance be amended to parallel the <br />State License ordinamce~ less the $30.00 paid to the State Corporation Commission and that <br />adjustment be made on 19~9 license to conform to above.~ <br /> On motion the following ordinance was placed on its first read- <br /> ing: <br /> ~AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE~LICENSE TAX ~RDINANOE OF THE <br /> CITY OF PORTSMOUTH TO IMPOSE A TAX ON EUTOR VEHICLES USED <br /> OR DESIGNED FOR THE TRANSPOR~ATION OF WOBKMEN~ FOR COMPEN- <br /> SATION" ~ <br /> <br /> 5th - "I submit herewith a request from thePortsmouth School <br /> Board for an appropriation for a heating plant in the Thomas Jefferson School." <br /> <br />fore school opens <br /> <br />Utility Tax F~ud was placed on its first reading. <br /> <br /> Inclosed - <br /> "The School Board has a~arded the contract for the new heating <br />plant at the Thomas Jefferson School at a total cost, including all items, 9f $25t975;88. <br /> I am directed by the School Board to reques~ your honorable <br />body to appropriate this amount from the School Building acco~ut so that it will be available <br />as needed, <br /> This work will be begu~ at a very early date and completed be- <br /> on September 10." <br /> <br /> 0~ motion of F~r.
