On motion of }~. Howard~ said resolution was adopted. <br /> <br />tendent <br />Hool~nan ~ <br /> <br /> Sth - "I am submitting herewith a letter from }~. H.A. Hunt~ Super~u- <br />of the Portsmouth Public Schools ~ith reference to the retirement of Hiss Grace S. <br /> 162~ Ann St~, as a teacher in Portsmouth.~ <br /> <br />0n motion filed. <br /> <br /> ~th - "At the last regular meeting of the City Council~ you referred to <br />me the question of the retirement of a number of school officials and teachers and requested <br />that I ascertain if there were funds in the School budget to pay for the gratuity that has b~ <br />allowed school teachers in the past. <br /> I made inquiries concerning this matter and was advised that <br />there were no funds provided in the budget~ neither was the City M~ager's office notified tha' <br />these teachers would be retired and therefore no provision was made in the City budget for <br />funds for this p~rpose. <br /> It has been ascertained that it will require the sum of <br />$2~241.60 for this purpose for the remainder of our budget year. I therefore recommend that <br />an appropriation in the sum of $2~2~1.60 be placed on its first reading." <br /> <br /> Notion of N~. Grimes to place an appropriation of $2,2~1.60 on its first <br />reading~ was adopted. <br /> <br /> 6th - "I am submitting herewith the petition from the Board of Super- <br />visors of Norfolk County for an extension of the City's water service to the Churchland school <br />and also an estimate of the cost of providing said servia. <br /> I recommend that no main less than ten inches in diameter be <br />installed and that theCounty be required to pay the amount that would be due by the County <br />for this size water main." <br /> <br />Petition - <br /> <br />',Virginia: The regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk <br /> Connty~ was held in the Supervisors' Room at the Clerk'~ Office~ Tu~s- <br /> day~ J~ue 13th, 19~0~ at 10:00 ~.M., and the follo~ng~ esolution was <br /> adopted: <br /> Mr. Hay~ood requested an extension to the water li~ue to supply <br /> ChurcP~and School. Mr. Haywood stated that the line was run to Cedar <br /> Lane and tl~t from Cedar Lane to the railroad tracks a distance of <br /> 1800 to 2000 feet, can be laid ~,~lth two fire plugs and ome fire plUg <br /> every 400 feet after passing the railroad track. <br /> On motion, made by Mr. Hay~zood~ seconded by Mr. Paxson~ the <br /> Water Department was requested to grant permission to lay this line <br /> on the basisof one plug every 1200 feet and that the county be given <br /> an estimate of the cost of this line. <br /> All voting Yes. <br /> <br />A COPY- <br />Teste: E.
