<br />ploy Deputies. I submit herewith three invoices in the total sum of $16&.00 and recommend
<br />that an appropriation to supplement the Budget appropriation for the Central Registrar's office be placed on its
<br />first reading, in amount of $16~.00."

<br /> lOth - "You referred to me the request for payment for chickens killed by dogs in the
<br />sum of $26.00 from H.G. Anderson. I have investigated this matter and I have been assured bythe Game Warden
<br />that the dog responsible for this h~s been taken care of. In preparing the semi- annual Budget for the fiscal
<br />year, I did not provide additional help for the Game Warden during this eeason' of the year. He has requested tha~
<br />he be furnished with additional help to check the unlicensed does. I recommend that an aporopriatinn iuthe sum
<br />of $99.95 be approved for this purpose."
<br /> Motion of ~ir. Grimes to appropriate $99.95 for said purpose was adopted.
<br /> llth - "I am submitting an exchange deed between the City of Portsmouth, Virginia and
<br />the Seaboard Airline Railroad Compauyfor exchangingparcels of land in an equal amount in the Tunnel area, ad-
<br />jacent to Middle Street.
<br /> I recommend that the Mayor be authorized and directed to execute the deed and
<br />that the City Clerk affix the City Seal thereto and attest the same. There is attached to the deed a check in the
<br />sum of $1,000.00 to defray the expense of the City in reselling and to maintain the ditch after the project has
<br />been completed."
<br /> Motion of ~ir. Sturtevant that the Mayor be authorized to execute the deed and the City
<br /> Clerk to affix the seal of the City, was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br /> from the four banks in the City, and recommend their adoption."

<br /> Natiohal Ba~, Portsmouth, Virginia, the sum of Fifty Thousand Dol-
<br /> lars ($50,000.00), in anticipation of the collection of the revenues
<br /> of the City for the calendar year 1951; that the proper officers be
<br /> authorized to make a note or notes maturing at any time prior to
<br /> December 31st, 1951, and the revenues of~ the City for the current
<br /> year are pledged %o the repayment of such borrowing.

<br /> RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the Merehants
<br /> and Farmers Bank, Portsmouth, Virginia, the sum of Fift~ Thousand
<br /> Dollars ($50,000.00), i-n auticipation of the collection of the revenues
<br /> of the City for the calendar year 1951; that the proper officers be au -
<br /> thorized to make a note or notes maturing a~ any time prior to December
<br /> 31st, 1951; and the ~evenues of the City for the current year are
<br /> pledged to the repayment of such borrowing.

<br /> Company, Portsmouth~ Virginia, the sum of F~fty Thousand Dollars.
<br /> ($50,000.00), in antmcipation of the collectmon of the revenues o~ the
<br /> City for the calendar year 1951; that the proper officers be authorized
<br /> to make a note ~r notes maturing at any time prior to December 31st,
<br /> 1951, and the revenues of the City for the current year are pledted to
<br /> the repayment of such borrowing.

<br /> RESOLVED that the City of Portsmouth borrow from the Bank of Virginia,
<br /> Portsmouth, Virginia, the sum of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00),
<br /> in anticipation of the .collection of the revenues of the City for the
<br /> calendar year 1951; that the proper officers be authorized to make a
<br /> ~ note or notes maturing at any time prior to December 31st, 1951; ~nd the
<br /> revenues of the City for the current year are pledged te the repayment
<br /> of such borrowing."
