Since this ordinance was adopted, it has been <br />discovered that the City Charter provides for the assessment of abutting property owners for sidewalk improve - <br />mentSo <br /> I recommend that the Council consider the question o f rescinding the previous ordi- <br />nance and that a new ordinance be introduced providing for the abutting property owners to pay 50% of the cost <br />of sidewalk improvements as provided by the City Charter." <br /> <br /> Motion of N~. Houghton, Smith smd Hc~ard on the committee. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Howard to suspend the rules to. hear from anyone who wished to speak before the <br />Council, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. W.T. Parker, representing taxi-cab owners, asked that the fees charged taxi-cab drivers <br />be reduced due to the difficulty in securing drivers for the cabs. <br /> <br />Motion of ~r.
