<br /> Notion of Nr.Grimes to place an appropriation of $1~,500.00 from Utility Tax Fund for
<br />said purpose on its first reading, was adopted.

<br /> first reading for the purpose of defraying the cost of tee new parking meters."
<br /> Motion of Mr. Houghton to place an appropriation of $6,000.00 f~r said purpose on its

<br /> 8th - "I present herewith a request from the ~Clerk of the Circuit Court that the
<br /> Clerk's salary be increa~ad to the same amount'as the present salary of the Clerk of the Hustings Court?
<br /> Notion of ~r. Howard to refer to the City Ymnager and City Attorney to report back at
<br /> the next regular meeting, was adopted.
<br /> 9th - "I submit a letter from the Department of Highways cbncerning the improvement of
<br />Effingham ~treet and Bar, and Clifford Sts., as an approach to the Portsmouth-Norfolk Tunnel, as suggested by the
<br />Department of Highways. I'recommend that the Department be requested tb program this project as a Federal Aid pro-
<br />ject and that WashLugton and Seventh Sts. be used temporarily as a route for directing heavy truck traffic from the
<br />t~u~uel plaza to~ Gosport Road."
