<br /> 9th - "I recommend that the sum of $25,000.00 be appropriated from the Utility Tax Funds
<br />t~ defray the preliminary cost of the new Woodrow Wilson P~gh School to be erected on the Glensheallah property."
<br /> Motion' of Mr. ~arren that an appropriation of $25,000.00 from the Utility Tax Fund be
<br />placed on its first reading, was adopted.
<br /> 10~h - "I submit a copy of a letter received from the Acting Regional E~gineer of the
<br />Housing and Home Finance Agency and desire to report that I have informed the Agency that the City would provide
<br />the additional funds over and above the two million dollars Federal Funds required to comDlete the project."

<br />m~hereas, the accounts and records of the office of A.E. Parker,
<br />City Collector, were audited by A.P. Johnson,Jr., City Clerk and
<br />Auditor, were fo~ud correct, as shown by the books of the City, and
<br />~ereas, it appears that it is the duty oft he City Council to
<br />have examinedyearly th~ list of uncollected taxes aud to credit the
<br />City Collector such taxes as in their opinion could not have bee~ col -
<br />lestedwith due diligence, and
<br />~ereas, it appears that A.E. Parker, City Collector, should be credited
<br />with all taxes levied in 1951, remaining uncollected on the 30th d~y of
<br />June, 1952, the ~m~unt of whish is shown in said report of A.P. Johnson,
<br />Jr., City Clerk and Auditor,
<br />Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that A.E. Parker, City Collector, be credited with all unccl -
<br />lected taxes levied in 1951, remaining in h~s office on June 30th, 1952,
<br />and that he be relieved of his responsibility for not having collected
<br />the same, but nothing herein contained shsllbe construed as relieving
<br />the payment of said taxes by persons owimg same, or in relieving A.E.
<br />Parker, City Collector, from his responsibility for any sums so collected."
