August 12th~ 1952. "We would like to appeal to you gentlemen to m=ke the proper~y o~ed hy the Port Norfolk and Pinners Point Athletic Club free from city taxes. This property consists of five lots located on the west side of Virginia Avenue between Cleveland and Detroit Streets numbers 2265 thru 2269 in Deed Book 90A page 137. (~r reasons are as follows: 1. A non-profit organization for the benefit of the entire comm~mnity of Port Norfolk and Pinners Point. .2. P~omote athletic activities ~n the com~mmaities. '3. Used as present headquarters for the Junior Police in this precinct. ~. ~Although this club is an Incorporation, the club house is open for the use of children between the ages of eight to eighteen one night a week and on Saturday afternoons. 5. An asset to the location where the club buildLug is erected." Motion of Mr. Howard to refer to the City Manager and City Attorney for report to the Council at the next regular meeting, was adopted. Motion of Mr. Houghton that a committee be appointed to work with a like committee from the Norfolk County Board of Supervisors and Housing Authority au a joint Municipal Center, was adopted. The Chair appdiHted Messrs. Howard, Houghton and Bilisoly on said committee. Motion of Mr. Howard to refer to the City Manager and City Attorney the question of the debris adjacent to the West Norfolk Bridge and that the City Engineer make a survey and map of the lots involved and report to the Council at the first meeting in September, was adopted. Motion of Mr. Bilisoly to refer to the City Manager and City Attorney the question of a permanent assessor for the City of Portsmouth, was adopted. City Clerk. Approved - President.
