<br />cial Districts. The Planning Co~mmission ree~mmends that Used Car lots be removed frem this list in order that
<br />they will be permitted in "G~ Commercial Districts.

<br /> Under the present zoning requirements Used Car lots are unreasonably, restricted
<br />because they would only he allowed in the "H" Central bnsines's ::district in Industrial Districts."

<br />and recommends that the streets specified therein he closed as requested."

<br /> Attached - "The Be~zley Femndation Incorporated, has purchased the.tracts of land fronting on
<br /> the south side of ~the Gosport-Road, which were owned by the McEwen Lumber Company
<br /> and hy the Belt L~e Land Company~ Inc., and lots numbers-BP and 83, fronting on the
<br /> south side ef Gosport Road, a~ its intersection with Dewey Avenue, lots numbers 54,
<br /> ~5 and 56~ fronting on the north side of Summit Ave.~ at its intersection with Dewey
<br /> Avenue, lots numbers 5I, 52 and 53, fronting on the south side of S~ammit Avenue, at
<br /> its intersection withDewey Avenue, a~d lots numbers24, 25 and 26, fronting on the
<br /> north side c~ S-mmit venue, at its interseetion with Dewey Ave., which land it con -

<br /> In order ~or the Foundation to properly carry~a its work and to operate the school,
<br /> it will be necessary for Dewey Ave. and Oedar Ave., lying hetween~the south side of
<br /> Gosport Road and the property of ~he Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad, shown
<br /> on the plat of the I.e. Ivey Estate~ recorded inthe Clerk's Of~iee of Nor£olk
<br /> Coanty in ~ap Book 3 page 66, to be closed. We therefore request your permission to
<br /> close these two streets, and in this connection that you also approve the closing of
<br /> Carolina Ave., Georgia Ave. and Ivey Ave., shown on the plat of I.O. Ivey Estate.
<br /> These.three latter streets were closed by instate recorded in the Clerk's Office
<br /> o~ the Circuit Court of Norfolk Connty signed hy the property owners, but to avoid
<br /> the question of ~ny irregularity in this connection, we would like for the City
<br /> Council to pass an ordinance ~o this e~feet.

<br />Hamilton Avenue by-pass, the City purchased from the Norfolk amd Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad Company, a parcel
<br />of land at the intersection of the Deep Creek Boulevard and the Gosport R~ad. This laud was assessed along ~th
<br />other land belonging ~o the Railroad Company, and the portion of the taxes for two-thirds of the year 1955,
