<br />pally in Norfolk County, of a nuisance cause~ by smoke from the dump. In order to remedy the condition, we have
<br />had installed a water pump and have employed additional manpower to guard t~e dump 24' hours per day, ? ~ys per
<br />week. These men have been able ~o pu~ out small fires if canght immediately but when a major fire s~arts aT dif-I
<br />ferent locations on the dump, it has been impossible for the men at the dump to control the fire and in some in _1
<br />stances in recent months, it has been necessary to call the Fire Department to extinguish the fire.
<br /> For the ~as~ several months, we have been negotiating for property located some
<br />distance from the City where the City cab dump with a minimum nuisance to the neighborhood. We have found a par-'
<br />cel of land to determine acreage.
<br /> Upon receipt of this report, I will submit it to Council with s recommendation.
<br /> I am also reporting as follows on the qhantity of trash and garbage removed for the
<br />month of June, 1956, au d also concerning the city's incinerator for your information.
<br /> It is estimated the cost of equipment ~o be between $30,000.00 and $40,000.00 to
<br />operate the new site and an annual additional cost of approximately $34,900.00 due to longer haul."

<br />of land not to exceed 100 ~cres to be used as a lan~ fkll for disposal of trash and garbage, was adqpted~

<br />McKee, expressing the city's regret at his being transferred to California, and thanking him for the many courte-
