;July 8. 1997 <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to transfer $151,270 <br />to support the Portsmouth Community Corrections Program, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97-199- <br /> <br />Adoption of a motion transferring $321,955 from the Grants <br />Contingency Account for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a motion transferring $321,955 from the Grants Contingency Account <br />for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) Program. <br /> <br />Pur ose and Need: <br /> <br />· The Portsmouth Police Department faces continuous challenges in terms of <br /> funding for police officer overtime and automation equipment. <br /> <br />The funds secured through LLEBG are for officer overtime and automation <br />equipment. <br /> <br />In addition to paying for a significant component of our overtime expenditure, <br />funds will be used to acquire hardware and software designed to facilitate the <br />exchange of information both within the Police Department and with other <br />criminal justice agencies, such as the Sheriff's Office, the Commonwealth <br />Attorney's Office. and the courts. <br /> <br />Financial Im-_act: <br /> <br />This federal award covers 90% of the total Duoget, while the required local match <br />is 10%.
