<br /> 56-339 - "I am repor~l~ng that the $3,000,000.00 in bonds authorized by Council at
<br /> previous meetings, were sold, delivered and the funds deposited to the credit of the City of PortSmouth, Virginia,
<br /> by the City Collector. It was determined that all of the Water Bond funds would not be needed at the present
<br /> tirae and that the City could invest a portion of ~hese funds to earn interest.
<br /> The Finance Committee, consisting of the Mayor, the City Manager, the
<br /> City Attorney, the City Auditor and City Collector, met and determined ~hat the best rate of interes~ the City
<br /> could ea~n would be to invest the funds in U.S. Government bonds.
<br /> I am reporting that $500,000.06 was invested to yield a rate of A.63%
<br /> until 12-1-56 at which time the bonds will be exchanged for a like amount ~hat will yield 3.25% an8 that another
