Weiseman, said ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes - Bartlett, Hinton, Kirby, Scott, Smith, Weiseman <br />Nays - None <br /> <br />.56-315 - The following ordinance, placed on first reading at last meeting, was <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF ~PLOYMENT AND A COMPENSATION <br />PLAN FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE CIT~' <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Kirby, said ordinance was adopted and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Aye~ - Bartlett, Hinton, Kirby, Scott, Smith, Weiseman <br /> Nays - None <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />The following ordinances were presented by the City Attorney: <br /> <br />56-360 ~ "AN ORDINANCE TO A~ND AND RErORDAIN SECTION 5-4 OF THE CODE OF <br /> THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 195t,ESTABLISHING A DISTRICT RESTRICTING <br /> LUMBERYARDS, GASOLINE STATIONS AND STORAGE OF INELA~MABLE NATERIALS" <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Scott to place said ordinance on first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br />56-361 - <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF THE AI,I.EY LYING BETWEEN <br />HAMILTON AND DOUGLAS AVENUES AND PORTLAND STREET AND TITE <br />ATLANTIC COAST LI~ RAILWAY' <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Smith to place said ordinance on first reading was adopted. <br />56-362 - The following letter from the Planning Commission was read: <br /> <br /> "Attached hereto is a copy of a deed of dedication and a plat showing the proposed <br />street dedication to the City by the Portsmouth'Eedevelopmen~ and Housing Authority at Jeffrey Wilson Homes. This <br />involves the dedication of Jeffrey Wilson Drive and also a 12 ft. strip f~r'the widening of Airline Turnpike.This <br />matter has been approved by the Public Works Director and it is the recommendation of the Planning Commission that <br />this dedication be accepted by the City." <br /> <br /> "THIS DEED OF DEDICATION, made this 7th day of September,-1956, by and between <br />Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority, a corporation created under Chapter 310 <br />of the Acts of 1938 of the General Assembly &f Virginia, and Amendments thereto, party <br />of the first part, and the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, a Municipal Corporation, party <br />of the second part; <br /> WITNESSETH: That the party of the first part doth hereby grant and convey umto <br />the party of the second part, and the party of the first part hereby dedicates as a public <br />street, the following property, to-wit: <br /> All that certain strip, piece, or parcel of land, situated in the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, being fifty ~50) feet in width, known as Jeffry Wilson Drive, as shown mn <br />the Plat of Dedication of Jeffry Wilson Homes, Project VA 1-4, of the Portsmouth RedeYelop- <br />merit and Housing Authority of Portsmouth, Virginia, dated September, 1956, zo be recorded <br />simultaneously herewith and to which plat reference is hereby made for a more particular <br />description; Also that certain strip of land, situated on the South side of Airline Turn- <br />pike at the property line of the grantor, said strip of land being twelve (12) feet in <br />width, as shown on the aforesaid plat and to which reference is hereby made for a more <br />particular description. <br /> IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said party of the first, part has caused its name to be <br />hereunto signed by its Chairman,George O.Diggs, and~its corporate ~eal to be hereto af <br />fixed and attested by its -~xecutive Director, Butler Ballance. <br /> <br /> Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing <br />Authority - a corporation, <br /> <br />By <br /> <br />Attest: Chairman. <br /> <br />EKecutive Director. <br /> <br />Motion of bit.
