September 9, 1997 <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING PORTIONS OF RANDOLPH <br />STREET AND NASHVILLE AVENUE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97-252 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a <br /> parcel of property at the northwest corner of High Street and Cedar <br /> Lane to the Commonwealth of Virginia for the widening of Cedar Lane. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey a parcel of <br />property at the northwest corner of High Street and Cedar Lane to the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia for widening of Cedar Lane. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has determined that <br />another lane is necessary to properly carry traffic from Cedar Lane to High <br />Street. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />This conveyance should have little or no effect on the value of property <br />located at the northeast corner of Cedar Lane and High Street according to <br />the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority for resale purposes. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY A PARCEL <br />OF REAL PROPERTY AT THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF HIGH STREET AND <br />CEDAR LANE TO THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is the owner of a parcel of land <br />located at the northwest corner of High Street and Cedar Lane, to which it has <br />retained title for the widening of Cedar Lane by the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Transportation has now <br />requested that said parcel be conveyed to the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia that the City Manager be, and he hereby is authorized to <br />convey to the Commonwealth of Virginia all that certain piece or parcel of land <br />situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia being Parcel 003 as shown on sheets <br />3 and 4 of the plans for Cedar Lane, State Highway Project U000-124-V04, RW- <br />201 and beginning on the west (left) side of the existing centeriine of Cedar <br />Lane from the existing north right of way line of present High Street opposite <br />approximate Station 11 +15 to a point in the lands of the landowner opposite <br />approximate Station 13+96, and containing 0.06 acre, more or less land for <br />such consideration as he shall deem appropriate. <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97-253 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a <br /> contract with Curtis Strange, Inc. for services as a golf consultant for <br /> the redesign and reconstruction of the city Park and Bide-A-Wee Golf <br /> course. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a <br /> contract with Curtis Strange, Inc. for services as a golf consultant for the <br /> redesign and reconstruction of City Park and Bide-a-Wee Golf Courses. <br /> <br /> <br />
