C. <br /> Norcom High School site. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance closing~ that portion of Queen Street from the <br />western right-of-way line of Jamestown Avenue eastwardly to the point <br />where Queen Street was closed for creation of the new I. C. Norcom High <br />School site. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />Closure of this portion of Queen Street will make one half of the-land lying <br />therein available to the City and one half to the Portsmouth Redevelopment <br />and Housing Authority (PRHA) for an addition to the Norcom site and <br />private development, respectively. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />The portion of the street conveyed to PRHA may be sold along with other <br />lands to the adjacent funeral home located at northeast comer of High and <br />Jamestown. <br /> <br />· This property will then be added to the tax rolls. Estimated assessed value <br /> is $2,000, and it will generate $28 per year in real estate taxes. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE CLOSING AND VACATING A PORTION OF QUEEN STREET <br />EAST OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF JAMESTOWN AVENUE." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97-251 - Adoption of an ordinance closing portions of Nashville Avenue and <br /> Randolph Street. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance closing portions of Nashville Avenue and <br />RandOlph Street for the expansion of the PortsmOuth RedeVelopment and <br />Housing Authority (PRHA) facilities. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· Closure of portions of these two streets as requested by PRHA will enable <br /> PRHA to expand its building and attendant facilities in the area. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The street area to be closed has been valued at $17,000 by the City <br /> Assessor and the City will receive one half that amount from PRHA totaling <br /> $8,500. <br /> <br />· The property will be non-taxable after the sale. <br /> <br /> MOtion by Mr. Clemons, and seCOnded by Mr. Martin, to adOpt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> <br />
