Cornwell, Jr. was assessed for tangible personal pro- <br />perty in the City of Portsmouth, in 1955, w~ taxes amounting to $13;75. Our investigation reveals that he was <br />not liable for taxes here but in the City of Norfolk. The taxpayer has paid the original tax notice #3338 plus <br />penalties and interest as evidenced by his receipted tax hill. As this is definitely an erroneous assessment, we <br />sincerely request that a refund in the amount of $14.72 bq made to the taxpayer." <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Scott that refund be granted.on first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br />58-137 - The following resolution from the.Rector and Vestry of Trinity Episcopal <br /> <br />Church, waST]~re~entsd: <br /> <br />"WHEREAS, during church services in Trinity Church, which are held on <br />the fifty-two Sundays of the year, the Forty Day of Lent and on other <br />occasions, the worship of the congregation is frequently disturbed <br />by the stopping and starting of .buses, the opening and closing of bus <br />doors, and loud and often irreverent conversation b~ those waiting for <br />the buses or .loitering at the bus stop; <br />AND WHEREAS, a~ other ma~n intersections along High Street, including <br />the opposite side of High Street at Cqurt, those buses continuing along <br />High Street stop on the far side of the intersect%on~ <br />AND WHEREAS, we feel that this request will be no inconvenience to the <br />patrons of the buses and not inconsistent with the present traffic pat - <br /> <br />tern; <br />AND WHEREAS, it has been noted .that those cars turning right ~rom High <br />onto Court are frequently hindered i~ doing so by buses leaving the bus <br />stop and continuing down High St. which occasions some traffic congestkon <br /> <br /> <br />
