Bartlett, said resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 59-51 - "The Portsmouth Eedevelopmen~ and Housing Authority hasrequested a con -i <br />ference with the City Council. This conference is in reference to the Urban Renewal Project of Lincolns~ille and <br />they would like ro meet within the nex~ ~wo weeks. <br /> I recommend that the Planning Commission also be invited to'this con - ~ <br />ference." <br /> Motion of Mr. Bartlett that such a conference be arranged at the earliest possible <br />date, as requested by the Portsmouth Red~velopmen~ and Housing Authority, and that the Planning Commission be <br />invited, was adopted, without dissenting voze. <br /> <br /> 59-52 - "I submit the following con~ract and recommend its approval and that the <br />proper city officials bm~authorized to sign it. <br /> This contrac~ is with Portsmouth General Hospital for the care of medi- <br />cally indigent patients. It is the standard contract approved annually by the City Council. The only difference~ <br />in this contract and the previous ones is the rate. The former contract calls for $17.O0 for the first 10 days, <br />$15.50 for the next 10 days and $10.00 for all days over 20 days, the contra~t to expire December 31st, 1959." <br /> <br /> "STATE-LOCAL HOSPITALIZATION PLAIN - VIHGINIA <br /> AGREEMENT <br />TO PROVIDE HOSPITALIZATION AND TREATMENT OF I~q3IGENT OR ~&EDICALLY INDIGENT PERSONS <br /> <br /> This agreement between the Portsmouth General Hospital, Leckie Street and the City <br />of Portsmouth is made with the following provisions: <br /> <br /> 1. The Hospital agrees that, if accommodations are available a~ the ~ime the request is made, it will admit <br />and furnish hospital care and treatment to patients upon the presentation of an official authorizatinn signed <br />by a referring physician and issued by the Authorizing Agen~ of the above nmued connty or city entitling fa~m to <br />hospitalization under the State-LOCal Hospitalization Plan as provided by Chapter 15,Title 32, Code of Virginia, <br />as amended. <br /> 2. Each authorization issued by the Authorizing A~ent is to be made for a period not in excess of fourteen <br />days. The city shall be notified by the hospital attending physician if any such patients require hospitalization <br />ar the expense of the City beyond a two-week period commencing with the entry of such patients. In the event <br />that additional stay is required and notice is given as herein provided for, such stay shall be at the expense <br />of the City as provided for in.Section 32-293.1 of the Code of Virginia. In no case shall the City be liable for <br />the care and treatment of any patient netained for teaching purposes and in such event such care and treatment <br />shall be borne by the Hospital. <br /> A separate authorization shall be required for each admission or re-admission under this contract. <br /> 3. The Hospital agrees to care for persons admitted under this agreement as ward patients a~ the ra~e of <br />$17.00 per ~atient day for the 1st 10 days, $15.50 ~or the Second 10 days and $I0.00 per day thereafter. This <br />constitutes the total charges.for care of such patients except~such items as special nursing service, and other <br />infrequent and unnsi%al.e, xpenses which may be charged at the prevailing rates for ward patients. <br /> 4. Infants hospitalized concurrently with the mother daring, the fourteenrday newborn period are to be caredI <br />for without charge other than that specified for the care of the mother. Premature infants requiring hospitali- <br />zation without the mother or at.the expiration of the fourteen-day period, are to be cared for at 40% of the rate <br />specified above. Sick infants requiring hospitalization Without the mother, or at the e~piration of the foarteen-I <br />day newborn period~ are to be cared for at the full rate specified above. <br /> 5. Payment will not be made for services rendered prior ~o date of authorization except in case of emergency <br />admission which should be reported within 72 hours ~o the authorizing agent who will receive an application from <br />and investigate the eligibility of the patient. <br /> 6. The Hospital agrees that the ~otal payment, regardless.of source, for the care of patients under this <br />agreement will not exceed the rates specified herein. <br /> 7. The Hospital agrees to notify the Authorizing Agent within 48 hours following the admission or readmis- <br />sion of a patient hospitalized under this agreement. <br /> 8. Immediately npon discharge of a patient the hospital bill is Eo be rendered ~o the City on the form <br />furnished for this purpose. <br /> 9.
