Motion of Mr. Bartlett to amend s~id ordinance by changing the last four words 'to be affected thereby' t.o 'to be rezoned' , was adopted, without dissenting vote. dissenting vote. On motion of Mr. Smith, the ordinance, as amended, was placed on first reading, withou~ 2nd - "AN OP~INANCE TO AMEND T~IE CODE OF TILE CITY OF PORTSMOUTM, VIRGINIA, 1951, BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED SECTION 32-3.1, PROVIDING THAT ANY AREA WITHIN THE CITYLIMITS NOT OTt{ERWISE ZONED SIitLL BE CLASSIRIED AS 'A' SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT" vote. On morion of Mr. Walker, said ordinance was placed on first reading, without dissenting 59-54 - "I have received a request from three former Firemen for a refund of their Pension conrribut±ons under the old Fire and Police Pension Fund. The men are C.g. George, J.A. Baldwin and W.D. Benton. The total amount due these men is $479.92. I recommend that an appropriation of $479.92 be made. Since this amount is less than $1,000.00, ! recommend that it be done on one reading, with a roll call vote." Motion of Mr. Smith ro concur in the recommendation of the City Manager and that an appropriation of $479.92 for said purpose be made, was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Baker, Bartlett, Breedlove, Smith, Walker, Weiseman Nays: None UNI~INISHED BUSINESS up and read: 59-43 - The following ordinance, placed on first reading at last meeting, was taken "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 26-38 OF THE CODEOF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1951, PERTAINING.TO SETBACK LINES ON CERTAIN STREETS, SO AS TO REMOVE RANDOLPH STREET FROM THE PROVISIONS THEREOF" On motion of Mr; Weiseman, said ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Baker, Bartlett, Breedlove, Smith, Wal~r, Weiseman~ Nays: None up and read: 59-42 - The following ordinance, placed on first reading at last meeting, was taken AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE THAT A PORTION OF GOSPORT ROAD WITHIN THE CITY OF PORTS~OUTtt SHALL BE NAMED NAVAL PLACE' On motion of Mr. Breedlove, said ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Baker, Bartlett, Breedlove, Smith..Watker, Weiseman Nays: None 59 -i~Relief of taxes to Firs~ Free Will Baptist Church, in the amount of $113.55,on property ~ 1616 Lansing Ave., placed on first reading at last meeting, was taken up. out dissenting vote.
