Louis Whitehead, 4415 County Street, spoke in support of amending the <br /> City Code pertaining to water service connections. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to adopt the <br />following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 38 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA [1988) BY AMENDING SECTIONS 38-40 (C), (D), <br />(E), AND (F) THEREOF, PERTAINING TO CHARGES FOR OW~NERSHIPAND <br />MAINTENANCE OF WATER CONNECTIONS." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />97 - 289 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey <br /> the City's interest in Rand61ph Street and Nashville Avenue to the <br /> Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to convey any <br />interest the City might have in Randolph Street and Nashville Avenue to <br />the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA). <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />This conveyance is necessary in order that the City convey the interest <br />it obtained in thestreets as a reSult of closure by ordinance adopted <br />September 9, 1997. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />PRHA paid the City $8,500.00 for the closures of these streets. This <br />payment was for the whole of the street, including that portion the City <br />obtained as a result of the closure. These portions will be non-taxable <br />subsequent to conveyance. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt the <br />following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ALL RIGHT, TITLE <br />AND INTEREST THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH MAY HAVE IN THE CLOSED <br />PORTIONS OF RANDOLPH STREET AND NASHVILLE AVENUE. <br /> <br /> <br />
