In this connection, the following letter from the Planning Commission was read:

"At its regular monthly meeting on February 6, 1962, the City Planning Commission again
considered street closure petitions involving County Street between Airline Boulevard and Frederick Boulevard,
and Potomac Avenue between Frederick Boulevard and South Street. These two matters were referred back to the Plan
ming Co~mission for further study om January 9, 1962.
You will recall that the City Planning Commission held a special meeting on February 2,
1962, which was called to order at the corner of Potomac Avenue and South Street at ~:00 A.M., and adjourned at
the corner of Airline Boulevard and County Street at 11:30 A.M.

"We, the undersigned, as property owners and business men, oppose the closing of Potomac
Avenue (formerly Vermont Avenue) between South Street and Frederick Boulevard, as we feel that such closing will
be detrimental to the public seeking a direct access to High Street from Frederick Boulevard, and also for the
reason that the closing of this street would forever preclude the providing of another exit'from Frederick Boule-
vard, which has rapidly become a SPEED-WAY. We hereby ask that the City Council reject the recommendation of the
Planning Commission, and deny the request of the George T. McLean interests for closing this street. Signed:
M. O. Lawrence and others."
