J. Phillips, Jr. <br />L. A. Clark <br />M. C. Norman <br /> <br />Charles Lively <br />Charles Reynolds <br /> <br /> 62-40 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This resolution <br />requires the City Council To elect five viewers co investigate the closing of certain s~reets in the Lincolnsville <br />project. These are the ssree~s to be abandoned with the installation of the new ssree~ pa~ern approved for the <br />project. This hms been requested by the Portsmouth Redevelopmen~ and Housing Authority, Portsmouth T. B. Associa- <br />tion and Portsmouth General Hospital." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Knight, the following resolution was adopted and the following viewers <br /> <br />named: <br /> <br />-- Resolution -- <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, the application of Portsmouth General Hospital, Incorporated, <br />Portsmouth Tuberculosis Association, Incorporated, and Portsmouth Redevelopk <br />menr and Housing Authority, to vacaze, close and discontinue those portions <br />of s~reezs therein described, has been referred To the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission for investigation and report, and said Commission has recommended <br />the closing of the said port%ohs of streets, and it appearing that notice <br />of the application and reques~ for the appointment of viewers was duly posted <br />sT the front door of the Court House on the first day of the February Term <br />of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, and on the Bulletin <br />Board of Police Headquarters a~ North and Green Streets and on a tree on <br />Green Street within the area of one of the s~ree~s to be vacated, at least <br />five days prior To this meeting~ <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that A. J. Phillips, Jr., L. A. Clark, M. C. Norman, Charles Lively, <br />and Charles Reynolds, be appointed viewers to view said stree[s and report <br />to this Council in w~iting whether in their oplnion~ any, and if any, what <br />inconvenience would result from discontinuing the aforementioned portions <br />of s~reets. <br /> <br /> 62-41 - "I recommend an appropriation of $140,000.00 from the Annexation Bond Fund be <br />plsced on first reading. This is for~the improvement To Portsmouth Boulevard (Route 337) ~o be psrticipated in <br />by the Federal Government, State snd City." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Atkinson, an appropriation of $140,000.00 for said purpose was approved <br />on firs~ reading, without dissenting vo~e. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> 62-29 - An appropriation of $40,000.00 for th6 construction of s building ro house the <br />Maintensnce Department snd the Traffic Departmens, approved on first reading a~ last meeting, was taken up. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, $40,000.00 was appropriated for said purpose and by the following <br /> <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith, Atkinson, Barnes, Dillon, Knight, Leery, Walker <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />62-13 - The follDwing ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken up <br /> <br />and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE THAT PORTION OF POTO~L~C AVEN~3E (FORMERLY VERMONT <br />AVENUE) LYING BETWEEN THE SOUTH LINE OF SOUTH STREET AND THE NORTHEAST LINE <br />OF FREDERICK BOULEVARD." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Dillon, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vo5e: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith, Atkinson, Barnes, Dillon, Knight, Leafy <br />Nays: Walker. <br /> <br />62-14 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at lsst meeting, was taken up <br /> <br />and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE THAT PORTION OF COUNTY STREET LYING BETWEEN <br />THE EAST LINE OF FREDERICK BOULEVARD AND THE NORTHWEST LINE OF AIRLINE <br />BOULEVARD." <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Atkinson, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following rose: <br /> <br />Ayes: Smith, Atkinson, Barnes, Dillon, Knight, Leafy, Walker <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br /> <br />
