March 10, 1998 <br /> <br />Recommendation: . <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolUtion authorizing the City Manager to convey property in <br /> PortCentre Commerce perk from the City to the Portsmouth Industrial <br /> Development Authority to facilitate the sale and development of these <br /> parcels. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The conveyance of this=properly will facilitate the sale and development of <br /> these parcels to five businesses (see attached map). <br /> <br />· Street closures for a portion of Nelson Street as well as Fifth and Fayette <br /> Streets will be necessary for the development of these parcels and will be <br /> submitted on a docket in the future. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />The total projeCted business investment is $8,060,000 to include 197 jobs. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr, Berm, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY <br />SEVERAL PARCELS OF LAND IN PORTCENTRE COMMERCE PARK TO THE <br />INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey to the Industrial <br />Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia at such time, and <br />under such terms and conditions as he shall deem to be appropriate and in the <br />best interest of the City of Portsmouth the following described property, to-wit: <br />All those certain pieces or parcels of land, situate in the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, being known, numbered and designated as Blocks 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, <br />20, 21 and 22 on that certain plat entitled: "Subdivision of PORTCENTRE <br />COMMERCE PARK, Portsmouth, Virginia", dated November 6, 1986, made by <br />Rouse-Sirine Associates, Ltd., Surveyors * Engineers * Planners, which said <br />plat is duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the~Circuit Court.of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia in Map Book 13, at page 254, and those portions of <br />Fayette Street, Fifth Street and Nelson Street lying adjacent thereto which have <br />been closed." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98 - 50 <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution supporting the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation's project for construction of the Pinners Point <br />Interchange in the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution supporting the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation's project for construction of the Pinners Point Interchange in <br />the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />Because project funding includes Portsmouth's Urban Funds, approval of <br />project plans is required in order for the Virginia Department of <br />Transportation (VDOT) to proceed with the purchase of required right-of- <br />way. <br /> <br /> <br />
