This appropriates $14,000 from the General Capital Improvement Fund for the construction of dressing <br />room and storage facilities at the Frank D. Lawrence Stadium. <br /> This has been recom~nended by the Recreation Advisory Board and will provide <br />storage facilities for Recreation equipment along with dressing room facilities for the baseball teams. <br /> The Tidewater Tides will pay $2,000 toward the cost of this building and <br />increase their annual rental by $400 for a period of eight years." <br /> <br />dissenting vote: <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Barnes, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $14,000.00 FROM THE GENERAL <br />CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DRESSING <br />ROOM AT FRANK D. IY <br />is necessary to carry this forward to have funds available in the new budget for this program." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 65-177 - "I submit the attached option between the State Highway Department and the <br />City of Portsmouth and recommend that the proper City Officials be authorized to sign. <br /> This option covers the purchase of .04 of an acre owned by the Portsmouth <br />Water Department on Route 646 in Nansemond County. The Highway Department is acquiring this property <br />for the widening and improvements to the highway. <br /> The Highway Department will pay the City $100 for this property, which <br />is in order. This will not be detrimental to the operation of the Portsmouth Water Department." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Leafy to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager was adopted, <br />without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 65-178 - "Bids were received on June 25,.1965, for the sale of surplus City owned property <br />located on West Road adjacent to the Water Tower at High Street and West Road. <br /> Maryv~w Hospital submitted a bid of $9,000 for th~s property and I recommend <br />that this land be sold to the hospital. <br /> At the present time, this property is being leased to the hospital for parking <br />purposes.~ <br /> <br /> <br />
