May 12. 1998 <br /> "ORDINANCE CLOSING A~': VACATING <br />STREET AND FIFTH STREET." <br /> <br />A PORTION OE <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 383 <br /> <br />FAYETTE <br /> <br />(b) Z-98-02 BRIGHTON/PRENTIS PARK NEIGHBORHOOD - The Portsmouth <br /> Redevelopment and Housing Authority has requested a rezoning <br /> from Neighborhood Commercial C-1 and Residential Single-Family <br /> RS-75 to Light Manufacturing M-1-R. The property is located at 1729 <br /> Columbus Avenue and along Nashville Avenue. <br /> <br />Albert J. Resolute, 521 Middle Street, represented applicant and spoke in <br />support of the rezoning. <br /> <br />William E. Copeland, 2107 Staunton Avenue, spoke in opposition of the <br />rezoning. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. <br />consideration of Z-98-02 to the Council Meeting of June 9, <br />adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Pitts, to defer <br />1998, and was <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />98-116 Adoption of the following ordinances to amend the FY 1999 Annual <br /> Operating Budget adopted on April 28, 1998. <br /> <br />a) Adoption of an ordinance amending Section 35-442 of the City Code <br /> pertaining to the Guest Lodging (Transient Occupancy) Tax. <br /> <br />b) Adoption of an ordinance amending Section 35-407 of the City Code <br /> pertaining to Restaurant Food Tax. <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance amending the FY 1999 Annual Operating <br />Budget by appropriating $682,000 to fully fund a 4% general wage <br />increase for non-public safety employees of the City beginning on <br />July 1, 1998. In addition, this will fund the transition of the police <br />officers and fireflghters to a new payscale effective January 1, 1'999. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance amending the Classification and Pay Plan <br />for the changes in the general wage increase an d police officers an d <br />firefighters pay scales. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />a. Adoption of an ordinance amending Section 35-442 of the City Code <br /> pertaining to the Guest Lodging Tax (Transient Occupancy Tax). <br /> <br />b. Adoption of an ordinance amending Section 35-407 of the City Code <br /> pertaining to Restaurant Food Tax. <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance amending the FY 1999 Annual Operating Budget <br />by appropriating $682,000 to fund an additional 1%, for a total of a 4% <br />general wage increase, for non-public safety employees of the City <br />beginning on July 1, 1998.
