"At its regular monthly meeting on December 7, 1965,the City Planning
Commission resolved to recommend that further steps be taken immediately to realign Cherokee Road between
Elmburst Lane and City. Park Avenue.
In the past, City Council saw fit to endorse the Planning Coramission's
street pattern proposal for this area; and this agency has diligently pursued these established objectives
in the review of subdivision plats in that area. Success, ~rgely, has attended our efforts. The Planning
Commission feels that all of the land for Cherokee Road realignment either is in hand or will be dedicated
to the city upon request.
It is understood that our City Attorney is authorized to institute condemnation
to acquire any portion of this street right-of-way not otherwise available. Developers have expressed a
willingness to improve at no expense to the city large segments of the portion of Cherokee Road to be realigned.
Therefore, the Planning Commission resolved to recommend that City Council
authorize and urge action to complete this undertaking to the benefit of all concerned, using as a basis the
following plat prepared for and at the request of the Department of Public Works:

"Plan Showing Proposed Alignment of Cherokee
