<br />on first reading. This closes a portion of Smithfield Road, between Beechdale Road and Victory Boulevard.
<br /> This closing has been requested ~y Diversified Investments, Inc.,
<br />in order that they may improve their trailer court at this location.
<br /> This has been approved by the Planning Commission, and a report
<br />of the viewers is attached hereto."

<br /> 66-44 - "In accordance with Section 65-69.1 and 65-69.2 of the Code of
<br />Virginia, I am submitting herewith the Biennial Budget estimates of the Social Service Bureau. This does
<br />not constitute final approval by the City Council.
<br /> It is necessa~f for the Social Service Bureau to submit their
<br />budget on an annual basis for approval by the Council.
<br />
<br /> · .~ese biennial estimates are submitted to meet the requirements
<br />of the Commonwealth of Virginia."

<br />the companion Senate Bill 171. These bills authorize the establishment of a Commission to celebrate
<br />the $50th Anniversary of Constitutional Government, and further authorizes an appropriation of $50,000.
<br /> The Senate Bill is sponsored by Senator W. B. Spong, and the
<br />House Bill by the three representatives f~om Portsmouth, along with Delegate Roberts from Norfolk.
<br /> If the Council concurs in the bills, proper resolutions should
<br />be sent to Honorable John H. Daniel, Chairman of the ~propriations Committee, House of Delegates and
<br />Honorable James D. Hagood, Chairman Senate Finance Committee."

<br /> WHEREAS, House Bill 189 and Senate Bill 171 authorizing the

<br />appropriation of necessary funds to support the work of said commission have been submitted to the
<br />General Assenfoly of Virginia; and
<br /> I~HEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, after
<br />careful study of said bills doth approve same:
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
<br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it recommends the adootion of the aforesaid House Bill 189 and Senate Bill 171
<br />by the General Assembly of Virginia.
