<br />On motion of Mr. Ymight, the following resolution was adopted, without
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, adopted an
<br />ordinance December 9, 1961, to petition the Circuit Court of Norfolk County, Virginia, for the annexation
<br />of certain territories lying in Norfolk County, now the City of Chesapeake; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, said ordinance provided generally for the provisions planned
<br />for the future development of the territories proposed to be annexed, including the provision of public
<br />utilities and services therein; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, ~h~ City Manager has reported to this Council the details of
<br />estimated costs, projects and programs based upon existing conditions, to carry out the so-called five year
<br />capital improvement program for the territories sought to be annexed.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREPORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the, City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that approval is hereby given to the estimated cost~, projects and programs presented by the
<br />City Manager for carrying out the five year capital improvement program for the territories sought ~o be
<br />annexed from the City of Chesapeake (formerly Norfolk County) in the annexation case now pending, as follows:

<br />Engineers to ~esign a street and drainage plan for all areas of the City which have not been surveyed.
<br /> Under this proposal, preliminary surveys will,be made to supplement
<br />the present available data. Necessary studies will be made and drainage districts established.
<br /> Schematic drawings will be prepared at suitable scale to show the drainage
<br />districts, the principal existing storm sewers, ~and those storm sewers and outfalls proposed.
<br /> This will permit the City to proceed with detailed development in any given
<br />area with the storm drainage requirements therein known.
<br /> This work will not exceed $18,750.00."
