Au??~ 2~_ 1 g66 <br /> <br />-UNFINISHED BUSINESS- <br /> <br /> 66-201 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken <br /> up and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $40,972.62 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE OP£RATION OF ~E <br /> YOUTH CORPS" <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Smith, Barnes, Hastes, Johnaen, King, Knight. <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 66-202 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken <br /> up and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPKIATE $11,000.00 PROM ~{E GP2~ERAL CAPITAl IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR <br /> THE PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT 194 CAROLINA AVENUE AND AT 105 SOUTHERN AVENUE IN PINNERS <br /> POINT" <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Smith, Barnes, Hastes, Johnson, King, Knight <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 66-203 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken <br /> up and read: <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 18~121 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, <br /> 1961, RELATING TO PARKING ON STREETS LESS THAN THIRTY-T~ FEET BETWEEN CURES" <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Eastas, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Smith, Barnes, Hastes, Johnson, King, Knight <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br />~'~''~''-':~ 66-156 - The following letter from the Director of Planning was read: <br /> <br /> "~e City Planning Commission, at its regular monthly meeting on August 9, 1966, unanimously <br /> resolved to recommend the closure of Glasgow Street, east of Water Street, if such a street in <br /> fact does exist. <br /> <br /> Although we have no mecord of such a public street, the question has been raised; <br /> and the Planning Commission is happy to oblige the applicant." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to refer to the City Attorney w~ adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> 66-137 - The following letter from the Director of Planning was read: <br /> <br /> "At its regular monthly meeting on August 9, 1966, the City Planning Commission unanimously <br /> resolved to recommend an exchange of property between the developers of West Park Homes and <br /> the City of Portsmouth and/or Portsmouth School Board as presented by the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> The Planning Commission takes great pride in having contributed to the realignment of <br /> Cherokee Road and the very acceptable new street pattern now being put in nlace between Collinswood <br /> and the Cherokee Road Junior High School site. <br /> <br /> The ~lanning Commission originally saw benefits to be derived by both the City of Portsmouth <br /> and the developer of,~est Park Homes if a series of irregular triangles could be exhhanged. <br /> <br /> P~at the City Attorney has finally arranged is to his credit, in the best interests of <br /> the Ci%y of Portsmouth and should be approved." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the recommendation of the Planning Commisgion was <br /> adopted, without dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> 66-158 - The following letter from the Director of Planning was read: <br /> <br /> "At its regular monthly Meeting on August 9, 1966, the City Planning Commig~on <br /> resolved to recommend that certain municipal property adjacent to Interstate 264 near Frederick <br /> Boulevard on the incinerator site be declared surplus as suggested by the City Manager and City <br /> Attorney. <br /> <br /> The Planning Commission noted that the City Attorney is in the process of trading <br /> certain properties, transactions related to this proposal. <br /> <br /> The Commission noted that the incinerator road is partially located ~n private property <br /> and recognizes in this a situation that should be corrected." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to refer to a conference of the Council was adopted, without <br /> dissenting vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
