June 23 1998 <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br /> <br />· The necessary funds for acquisition are already in place. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to adopt the <br />following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 6 TO THE <br />REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE SOUTHSIDE III REDEVELOPMENT <br />PROJECT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted February 24, 1976, <br />approved a Redevelopment Plan for the Southside III Redevelopment <br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for consideration <br />'and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the project area, which Plan <br />consists of 13 pages and 2 exhibits (Amendment No. 6); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 6 proposes to add certain properties to <br />the project area and to designate additional properties as "To Be <br />Acquired"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it is in the interest of the <br />City and its inhabitants that the said Amendment be approved. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />· ;I/That regarding Amendment No. 6, it is hereby found: <br /> <br /> (a) That the objectives of the Redevelopment Plan for the Southside <br />III Redevelopment Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by <br />the adoption of said Amendment to the Plan. <br /> <br /> (b) That Amendment No. 6 meets the requirements of a plan for a <br />redevelopment project pursuant to Chapter I of Title 36 of the Code of <br />Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br />2. That Amendment No. 6, having been duly reviewed and considered, is <br />hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a <br />copy of said Amendment with the minutes of this meeting." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Clemons, Griffin, Martin, Pitts, Robinett, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-150 <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to make <br />application for a $100,000 grant from the Department of <br />Conservation and Recreation for the Virginia Recreational Trails <br />Fund Program. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution of support authorizing the City Manager to <br />make application for a $100,000 grant for the Virginia Recreational Trails <br />Fund Program grant application, to the Department of Conservation and <br />Recreation to help fund the Path of Glory Phase I Trail development of <br />the Vision 2005/Trail of Two Cities plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
