The property is located at <br />1729 Columbus Avenue and along Nashville Avenue. Deferred <br />from the June 9, 1998 Council Meeting. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, seconded by Mr. Benn, to defer consideration of <br />Z-98-02 to the Council Meeting of October 13, 1998, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br />- CITY MANAGER'S REPORT - <br /> <br />98-163 Adoption of a resolution to the Virginia Department of Transportation <br /> (VDOT) approving the Turnpike Road project to allow for the purchase <br /> of the required right-of-way. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution approving the Turnpike Road project which is <br />required by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to purchase <br />the required right.of-way. <br /> <br />Pur= ose and Need: <br /> <br />· The Virginia Department of Transportation's Six-Year Plan includes <br /> improvements to Turnpike Road as requested by the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br />Approval of the major location and design features following the public <br />hearing is required for VDOT to proceed with right of way purchase and <br />subsequent construction. <br /> <br />Financial Impact; <br /> <br />· The most recent estimate of the project is $18.4 million and the City of <br /> Portsmouth's share is 2% of the total cost ($368,000). <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Berm, seconded by Mr. Robinett, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION APPROVING THE MAJOR LOCATION AND DESIGN <br />FEATURES OF THE TURNPIKE ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. <br /> <br /> <br />
