<br /> On motion of Mr. Barnes, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote:

<br />to vacate and close that portion of North Street lying between the western rightcdf:~way line of
<br />~illiamshurg Avenue and the center of Scott's Creek, and it appearing that notice of the application
<br />andr~ques't for the appointment of v~ewers was duly posted on May 9, 1967, on the bulletin
<br />board of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of the Circuit
<br />Court of the City of Portsm°uth, and on a pole in the vicinity of the street sought to be closed.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE ~T RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />Joseph C. Barber, L. T. Correll, Robert D. rick, $. E. Griffin and Walter M. Edmonds be
<br />appointed viewersto view said street and report to this Council in writing whether in their
<br />opinion any, and if any, wh~t inconvenience would result form vacating and closing the aforementioned
<br />part bf North Street.~

<br /> 67-140 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend ~t~ adoption.
<br /> This appoints Viewers for the closing of a portion of Cherokee Road, Cherokee Road
<br />has been realigned and tltis will close the portion of the old road that does not f~llin the right-
<br />of-way of the realigned Cherokee Road.
<br /> This is being requested by the City of Portsmouth and has been approved by the
<br />Planning Commission."

<br /> On motion of Mr. King, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote:

<br /> "WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth, on its own motionj desires to vacate and close those
<br /> portions of old Cherokee Road lying between t~e western right of way line of City. Park Avenue
<br /> and a point 207 feet, more or less, east of the eastern right :of way line of Stanley Road and
<br /> between the western right of way line of Jewell Avenue and the eastern endof Cherokee Road
<br /> as shown on the plat of Hodges Manor, Section 5, duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the
<br /> Circuit Cou~t of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map Book 40, page~79, except such portions thereof
<br /> as maybe located within the right of way of new Cherokee Road, and it appearing that notice
<br /> of the application and request for the appointmen~of viewers was duly posted on May 12, 1967, on the
<br /> bulletin board of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of the
<br /> Circuit Court of the City of Portsmouth, and on a pole in the vicinity of the street sought to be
<br /> closed.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORe, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that
<br />James V. McGehee, Frank N. Bilisoly, L. A..:Clark, Loyed W. Gardnar and Zalmon I. Blachman be
<br /> app6inted viewers to view said street and report to this Council in writing whether in their
<br /> opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the aforementioned
<br /> parts of old Cherokee Road."

<br /> 67-141 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption.
<br /> This appoints viewers for the closing of a portion of Queen Street between Hamilton
<br />Avenue and Douglas Avenue. Queen Street will not be opened into the New London Glasgow Expressway
<br />and the closing of this street will eliminate the City having to construct a' cul-de-sac.
<br /> This has been requested by theadjoining property owners and approved by the Planning
<br />CoIr~lission."

<br />On motion of Mr. Leary, the following resolutio~ was adopted, without dissenting vote:

<br /> "WHEREAS, Thomas R. Bonner and Edythe V. Bonner, husband and wife; Marry G. McCready, Clara
<br />B. Walker, Ada B. Stephenson, Robert L. Stephenson, Jesse ~. Stephenson, Jr., Delores D. Shambley,
<br />Mildred S. Farrow and Marion S. White have made application to vacate and close that portion of
<br />Queen Street lying between the new eastern right of way line of Route SB as shown on the pi&ns for Project
<br />00S8-124-102, R/W 201 and the western right of way line of ~ouglas Avenue, and it appearing that notice
<br />of the application and request for the appointment of viewers was duly posted on March 15, 1967, on the
<br />bulletin board of the Court of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth and on two telephone poles in
<br />the vicinity of the street sought to be closed.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Leo
<br />V. Schocklin, N. E. Robertson, Jr., Millard C. Norman, Louis Leitner and R. A. Craig, Jr., be appointed
<br />viewers to view said street and report to this council in writing whether in their opinion any, and if
<br />any, what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the aforementioned street."

<br /> 67-142 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend ~t be placed on first reading.
<br />This changes the name of old Cherokee Road between Jewe~Avenue to a point 207
<br />feet east of the eastern right-of-way line of Stanley Road. The street to be named Bailey Place.
<br /> It is necessary that this portion of the old Cherokee Road ~emain open as there are
<br />residents facing on this portion of the street."

<br /> On motion of Mr. Knight, the following ordinance was approved on first ~eadin:~ without dissenting
<br />vote:

<br />"AN ORDINANCE TO Gt~NGE THE NAME OF OLD CHEROKEE ROAD FRO~ JEWELL AVENUE TO ~ POINT 207 FEET
<br />EAST OF THE EASTERN RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF STANLEY ROAD TO BAILEY PLACE"
<br />
<br /> 67-143 - "I submit~the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading.
<br /> This appropriates $3,518,665.00 from the General Capital Improvement Fund to cover
<br />various projects previously authorized by the 'City Council. This appropriates the balance of funds
<br />from the bond issue of May 1, 1967."
