<br />lfHEREAS, the said Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company has agreed to grant the City of Portsmouth
<br />the privilege of using certain property located in the vicinity of the eastern end of Columbia S~eet.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City
<br />Manager of said City be, and he hereby is authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Portsmouth
<br />that certain agreement with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company concerning the relocation of
<br />certain wires, the installation of a drainage pipe, and the construction of a driveway and
<br />pedestrian walkway in the vininity of the eastern end of Columbia Street on the property of said railroad.
<br /> BE IT!FURTHER RESOLVED that the~Ci~M Cleyk be, and she hereby is authorized to affix the seal
<br />of this City to said agreement and to attest thereto."
<br />
<br /> 67-175 - "I submit the attached easement between the Virginia Electric and Power Company and the
<br />City of Portsmouth and recommend the properCity officials be authorized to sign.
<br /> This covers the p~er line installation to the trash and garbage building constructed
<br />at the new Central Public Works yard at Frederick Boulevard.
<br /> This is a standard form of easement required by the Virginia Electric and Power Company
<br />that has been approved by the City Attorney."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to concur in the Manager's recommendation was adopted without dissenting
<br />vote.
<br />
<br /> 67-176 - "I ~e¢ommend that I h~ authorized to convey to the Portsmouth School Board one City
<br />owned lot within the property currently owned by the SchoOl Board in Hedges Manor at Cherokee
<br />Road.
<br /> This transfer is being requested in order that the ScKoot Board can straighten their
<br />property line with the adjacent property o~mers."
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. King to concur in the Manager's recommendation was adopted without dissenting vote.
<br />
<br /> 67-177 - "At a recent meeting of th~ City Council it was referred to me to investigate the condition
<br />of the Westhaven Community Hall.
<br /> The Buildings and Grounds Department has investigated this ~nd reportlit will cost
<br />approximately $2,575 to put this building in first class condition. It will require guttering to be
<br />replaced, steps erected, replace weather boarding and other small outside repairs including
<br />painting. It will also be necessary to make repairs on the interior of the building.
<br /> I recommend this building be improved from funds available in the ~967-68 operating
<br />budget that will be effective July 1, 1967."
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Barne~that the City Manager be requested to investigate the condition surrounding
<br />the build!ngand use his discretion in the use of funds for improvement ~as adopted.
<br />
