-¥ <br /> <br />July 28. 1998 <br /> <br />98-181 Adoption of an ordinance to amend Section 22-570 of the City Code to <br /> allow residents of the Olde Towne neighborhood to park their vehicles <br /> on the streets of the Olde Towne District for periods longer than 48 <br /> hours with a valid parking decal. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of an ordinance amending Section 22-570 of the City Code <br />allowing residents in the Olde Towne neighborhood to park their vehicles <br />on the streets of the Olde Towne District for periods longer than 48 hours <br />with a valid parking decal. <br /> <br />Pur~: <br /> <br />Many residents of the Olde Towne District must park on the streets as they <br />have limited or no parking spaces available in the rear or sides of their <br />homes. <br /> <br />· These residents are concerned that they will receive parking tickets if their <br /> vehicles remain parked longer than a 48.hour period. <br /> <br />The code amendment will allow Olde Towne residents to remain parked for <br />longer than 48 hours provided they have a valid Olde Towne Parking <br />District-sticker. <br /> <br />Financial Im act: <br /> <br />· There is no financial impact. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 22 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 22-570 THEREOF <br />PERTAINING TO EXCESSIVE ON,STREET PARKING." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-182 Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a <br /> Certificate of Compliance as required by the Virginia Juvenile <br /> Community Crime Control Act (VJCCCA), attesting to the City's <br /> willingness to participate and comply with the requirements of the <br /> VJCCCA and to obtain funding. <br /> <br />Recom__~___mendation: <br /> <br />Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a <br />certificate of compliance as required by the Virginia Juvenile Community <br />Crime Control Act (VJCCCA) to attest to the City's willingness to <br />participate and comply with the requirements of the VJCCCA. <br /> <br />and Need: <br /> <br />· This resolution is required by the Act in order for the localities to obtain <br /> funding for VJCCCA activities. <br /> <br />· Through the Juvenile Court Services Unit and the Juvenile Court judges, <br /> the City has developed a plan that is administered through the Tidewater <br /> Regional Group Home Commission which addresses a range of programs, <br /> services and sanctions for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. <br /> <br /> <br />
