October 10, 1967 This establishei the rates to be charged, as well as who will be responsible for the payment for this service. ~ith.the use ofthe ambulmuce service we should be able to reduce the number of emergency calls to which the police radio cars are now responding.V Motion of Mr. Knight that action in this matter be deferred until next regular meeting of City Council, on October 24, 1967, Was adopted, without dissenting vote. 67-$00 - "I am in receipt of a letter from Mr. J. S. Livesa¥, concerning his services on the Tax Study Commission. Mr. Livesay-has been serving as chairman of this commission but has recently moved out of the present City limits of Portsmouth. Under the ordinance establishing this Commission, it requires that the members be residents of the City. Since Mr. Livesay's present residence will he within the corporate limits of the City of Portsmouth after January 1, 1968, I recommend that Mr. Livesay be appointed an ex-officio member of this Commission until January 1, 1968; at which time he will then be within the City limits and can return as a qualified member of the Tax Study Commission." Motion of Mr. Hastes to concur in the recommendation of the City Manager, was adopted, without dissenting vote. -UNFINISHED BUSINESS- 67-280 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $200,000.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR A TEMPORARY LOAN TO THE PORTSMOUTH PORT AND INDUSTRIAL CO~IISSION." On motion of Mr. Johnson, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Bastes, Johnson, King, Knight, Leafy Nays: None 67-281 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINAMCE TO APPROPRIATE $14,700.00 PROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THB PURCHASE OF PROPERTY AT 120 AND 122 PINNERS AVENUE, 202 CAROLINA AVENUE, AND ONE-HALF INTEREST IN LOTS 4~, 61, AND 63 PINNERS ~ENUE." On motion of Mr. Leafy, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Bastes, Johnson, King, Knight, Leafy Nays: None 67-282 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at last meeting, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF NORTH STREET" On motion of Mr. Bastes, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Bastes, Johnson, King, Knight, Lear>' Nays: None 67-291 - The following ordinance, approved on first reading at called meeting held on October Srd, 1967, was taken up and read: "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE 0P SEVEN MILLION FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND ($~,400,000.00) DOLLARS OF BONDS OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, /I) BB KN0~N AS GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS TO COMPLY WITH THE ORDER BNTBRED IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OP THE CITY OF CHBSAPEAKE, ON OCTOBER 2, 1967~ ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH EFFECTIVE JkNUARY 1, 1968" On motion of blr. King, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote: Ayes: Barnes, Hastes, Johnson, King, Knight, Leary Nays: None 67-270 - Motion of Mr, Knight to go into the election of~ a,member to the Portsmouth Supplemental Retirement Board, was adopted. Kube to succeed himself as a member of the Board, BUSINESS- for a four year zerm 67-301 - The report on audit of the Clerk of Circuit Court's accounts, for the calendar year, 1966, by the Auditor of Public Accounts, Commonwealth of Virginia, was presented, and on motion of Mr. Leafy, received as information. 67-302 - The report on audit of the Clerk of Hustings Court's accounts, for the calendar year 1966, by the Auditor of Public Accounts, Commonwealth of Virginia, was presented, and on motion of Mr. Hastes, received as information.
