October 10, 1967 <br /> <br /> 67-503 - Assistant City Manager, Carroll Mason, presented the annual report of the Planning Commission, <br />which was, on motion of Mr. Knid~ht, received as information. <br /> <br />On motion adjourned. <br /> <br />APPROVED - <br /> <br /> City Clerk <br />President <br /> <br />October 24, 1967 <br /> <br />At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on October 24, 1967, there were present: <br /> <br />R. Irvine Smith, George D. Eamtes, Burrell R. Johnson, Isaac W. King, W. T. Leafy, <br />A. P. Johnson, Jr., City Maaager;' M. A. Korh, Jr., City Attorney, R. D. Ottavio, <br />City Auditor. <br /> <br /> The meeting was opened with prayer by-Dr. H, S. Hardcastle, of the Congregational Christian <br />Church. <br /> <br /> 67-504 - A resolution adopted by the ~lty Council of Elizabeth City, N. C., commending the <br />Portsmouth Fire Department for their valua~te help to that City at the time of a disastrous fire, <br />was presented by the City Manager of Eli'za~et5 City, and in turn, presented to Chief Benton of the <br />Portsmouth Fire Department by Mayor Smith. <br /> <br /> 67-305 - An award from the United States .Post Office Department - a public service award in <br />recognition of the outstanding efforts of the Planning Department and printing d~p~rtm~nt.:o~ Portsmouth in <br />preparation of the zip code map, was presented by~ Mayor Smith to Mr. Dozier and Mr. Preziotti. <br /> <br />The following reports from t e City Manager were read: <br /> <br /> 67-306 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. <br /> This appropriates $9,500,00 for the purchase of property in Pinners P~nt; to <br />be used in connection with the new Marine Terminal. The property is as follows: Lots 145 and <br />146 - Carolina Avenue; 111Pinners Avenue; and 170 Carolina Avenue." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson, the following ordinance was approved on first reading, without <br />dissenting vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $9,S00~00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND <br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF LOTS 14S AND I~6 ON CAROLINA AVENUE, 111PI~-~ERS AVENUE AND 170 CAROLINA <br />AV~qUE IN PINNERS POINT." <br /> <br /> <br />
