<br />"Enclosed is a copy of a petition signed by over fifty property o~mers of Cradock area on which we
<br />action bythe Council.

<br />THis condition outlined in the petition has been so since the fire some four or five years ago. I'm
<br />there are ordinance's against such deplorable condition of property in the City of Portsmouth. We also
<br />some black and white pictures of this unsightly condtion.
<br />
<br />We would appreciate any consideration by the council in regards to this petition.
<br />
<br />Copies of the petition with signatures and pictures are available for the Council."
<br />
<br /> "We, the undersigned property owners of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, herebyrequest that the
<br />City Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, take such steps as may be~n~cessary to require that the
<br />E. L. Boyce Lumber Company, 102 Dahlgrem Avenue, Portsmouth, Virginia, restore said property to a proper
<br />condition; that the residue of the burned-down structures be removed from the property; that the weeds be cut;
<br />that said property as well as being unsightli is infested with rodents thus creating a health hazard. We
<br />furth.er request that the rodents be exterminated. (Signed Roger L. Cornett and others)"

<br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes to refer to the City Manager to take whatever action is necessary and to report
<br />back to the Council, was adopted.

<br /> The City Manager gave a verbal report, stating that instructions had been given to correct this
<br />condtion.

<br />68-213 - ~he following letter from Cecil W. $ohnson, Clerk, Court of Hustings, was read:

<br /> "In accordance with Title 24-278 and following sections of the Code of Virginia, l~S0, I am enclosing
<br />herewith a copy of the Abstract of Votes cast for members of the City Council of the City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, in the Comncilmatic General Election held in the said City on June 11, 1968.
<br />
<br /> It will appear from the Abstract that Dr. James W. HOlley, III, Jack P. Barnes, R. Irvine Smith,
<br />and RaYmond "Big Boy" Turner received the highest number of votes cast in thc said election and are, therefore.
<br />elected to the City CounDil for the City of Portsmouth.
