This is Phase I of these sewer relocations and covers the area between Effingh~m and Godwin Streets. ~mli~msbu~g Avenue. Bids will be taken at a later date for the area between Godwin Street and ~' '~ ~ Bids for this sewer construction were received as follows: A. mtuar~ Bolling A. G. On motion of Mr. King, the following ordinance was approved on first reading: "~2.~ ORDINanCE TO APPROPRIATE $32~000.00 FROM ~E G~RAL CAPITAL IMPROV~N~ FL~-~D FOR ~ ~LOCATiON OF SANITARY SEWERS WIthIN THE LON~ON-GLASG0~'EXP.~SSWA~ PROJECT." Motion of Mr. Holley to award the contract to the low bidder, A~ G. Pinkston Company, was adopted, without dissenting vote. 69-93 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its~ adoption. This authorizes the sale of City of Portsmouth water distribution system located within th~ city limits of the City of Chespaake to the City of Chesapeake. We will not sell the transmission mains located within the City of Chesapeake. This resolution also authorizes the signing of a contract for the sale of bulk water to the City of Chesapeake for a period of 15 years. The water is to be sold at the rate of 40~ per thousand gallons for the first billion and a half gallons used mnnually, and 36~ per thousand gallons for all. over that. The closing for this contract shall ~e held not less than 10 days after written notice by the City of Chesapeake to the to the City of Portsmouth, provided the master meters have been installed. If no date for the closing is agreed upon, the closing shall be held on June 50, 1969." On motion of Mr. Eastes, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vot~: "RESOL[~ION AL~MORIZING ~HE CITY MANAGER TO EXECbTE A CO~TFRACT WITH THE CITY OF CI{ESAPEAKE PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF A PORTION OF ~{E WATER DISTRIBOTION SYSTEM OWNED BY THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH ~ND LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF CHESAPEAKE, AND ALSO PROVIDING FOR T~ SALE OF WATER IN BULK TO THE CITY OF CNESAPEAKE WHEP~AS, the City of Chesapeake desires to purchase a portion of Portsmouth's water distribution system located within the City of Chesapeake and purchase water in bulk for resale to its inhabitants; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth is willing to sell to Chesapeake a portion of its water distribution system and water in bulk. . PORT~OUTH, FIRGINL~. NO~, ~EREFORE, BE IT RESOL~D BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~ c~"~ .... That the City Manager of Portsmouth is hereby authorized to execute an agreement providing for the sale of a portion of the water distribution system owned by Portsmouth ~a~d located ~i~in the City of Chesapeake for the sum of One Million Four Hundr6d ~ousand and no/100 ($1,400,000.00) Dollars and to sell water in bulk to Chesapeake at the rate of Forty ($.40) Cents per thousand gallons for the first one and one-half billion gallons ~nd at the rate of Thirty-six [$.36) Cents per thousand gallons for all over that amount consumed during any fiscal year; all in accordance with the terms of the proposed contract, a-Copy of which is attached hereto and hereby made a part of t~is~r~s~lution. This specifically refers to water, sanitary sewers and fire signal controls under the jurisdiction of the City of Portsmouth, plus the telephone service of the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company. This certifies that arrangments have been mmda or will be made for the relocation of these facilities and will relieve the State Highway Department of any claims from th~ contractor for any delays that might be caused ~y the relocation of these facilities." mo~zon of Mr. Smith, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote: "~SOLUTION CERTIFYING THAT THE CITY OF PORTSMOL~JH , lmm AR~qGE FOR THE RELOCATION OF CmR~AIN UTILITIES WITMIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF THE LONDON-GLASGOW PROJECT W~EREAS, the Mighway Department proposes to construct or otherwise improve a section of Route 58, from the interesection of Airline Boulevard and High Street tO the intersection of London+-and Effingham Streets, designated as Project 0058-124-102, C-501, B-601, B-602; and ~.~n~mmAS, the City Council is responsible for ma~ng arrangments for the adjustment and/or relocation of certain utilities and for the installation of any new utility facilities; NOW, ~{EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Co.uncil of Portsmouth, hereby certifies that all arranfe- ments have been made or will be made for the relocation and/~r adjustment of said utility facilitieS, and for the installation of any new facilities. In the event of any justifiafDle cleans from the road contractor for delays or interference caused by said utilities, the City of Portsmouth hereby agrees to be responsible
