KMC Telecommunications will pay $1,000 <br />to the City for costs and expenses incurred by the City to grant this license <br />agreement in addition to all required business permits, fees and utility <br />taxes. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />NONEXCLUSIVE REVOCABLE LICENSE AGREEMENT TO INSTALL <br />TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES IN THE CITY'S RIGHTS-OF.WAY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable for the region to have additional <br />telecommunications facilities, and KMC Telecom is installing regional system <br />which will enhance the provision of additional telecommunications services <br />throughout the region and therefore needs to install facilities within the City's <br />rights-of-way, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to <br />execute a Temporary Nonexclusive Revocable License Agreement with KMC <br />Telecom of Virginia, and such other documents as may be deemed necessary <br />to permit the installation by KMC Telecom of telecommunications facilities <br />within the City's rights-of-way." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />98-239 Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />98-240 Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />· Mr. Benn commented on upcoming military events and spoke of Fleet Week <br /> activities. <br /> <br />· Mr. Whitehurst commented on his trip to Trinidad and contacts he made <br /> while there. He invited Portsmouth to investigate Trinidad as a sister city, <br /> and he also provided information on their police and community initiatives. <br /> <br />98-241 Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />Helen Person, 1314 Green Street, spoke regarding the condition of 1324-26- <br />28 & 30 Green Street. She also stated that the apartment in the 1400 block <br />of Effingham Street needs to be painted. <br /> <br />· Mr. Robinett asked administration to investigate the properties and to <br /> report back to City Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
