December 9, 1969, on the bulletin board of the Court of Hustings <br />for the City of Portsmouth, on the bulletin board of the Circttit Court of the City of Portsmouth, and on the <br />bulletin board of the ~.~unicipal Court of the City of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that Frank N. Bilisoly, <br />L. A. Clarke, Luther Tapp, James V. McGehee and James Choate be appointed viewers to view the hereinafter <br />described portion of Fitzgerald Street and report to this council in writing whether in their opinion any, and <br />if any, what inconvenience would result from vacating and closing the following portions of the specified <br />streets: <br /> <br />All that certain portion of Fizgerald (formerly Lee) Street more particularly described as <br />follows, to-wit: Beginning at the southeast intersection of Fitzgerald (formerly Lee) Street <br />mud now or formerly Manly Street and thence running in a southerly direction along the easterly <br />side of Fitzgerald (formerly Lee) Street a distance of 100 feet to a point; thence running west- <br />erly along a line perpendicular to the said side of Fitzgerald Street a distance of 60 feet to <br />a point on the westerly side of Fitzgerald Street; thence running in a northerly direction along <br />the westerly side of Fitzgerald Street a distance of 100 feet to a point; thence running in mn <br />easterly direction along a line perpendicular to the westerly side of~ Fitzgerald Street a distance <br />of 60 feet to the point of beginning." <br /> <br /> 70-8 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This appoints five viewers for the <br />closing of portions of Railraod Avenue, Moron Street, Markham Street, Whitson Street, and McKinley Street. <br />These closings have been requested by Mr. B. M. Schwetz, Ruth F. Schweltz, Howard B. Wilkins, and the Norfolk <br />and Portsmouth Belt Line Railroad Company. M~K~.piey Street, from a line connecting the western line of Lot 10~ in Block #7 on the plat of <br />Peoples Lot Club to the western line of Lot 105 in Block 5 on said plat, in an easterly direction approximately <br />58 feet to its end." <br /> <br /> 70-9 - "I submit the attached resolution and recommend its adoption. This requests the ABCBoard to <br />extend the hoqrs for the sale of alcoholic beverages until 1:00 a.m. in the City of Portsmouth. This requests <br />the extension of time for the s~le of these beverages from 12:00 midnight until 1:00 a.m. It will not apply <br />to Saturday night as the City has an ordinance prohibiting the sale of these De~erages on Sunday. This will <br />conform to ~the closing hours on the other nights that the other localities in the area have requested." <br /> On motion of Mr. Holley, the following resolution was adopted, without dissenting vote: <br /> "~ RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ALCHOHLIC BEVERAGE~CONTROL BOARD TO EXTEND THE TI~ OF SALE <br /> AT RETAIL OF ALOCHOLIC BEVERAGES IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, FROM 12:00 MIDNIGHT TO 1:00 A.M. <br /> THROUGHOUT THE YEAR <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Council of the City of Portsmouth that the public convenience would <br />be so,ced by the sale at retail of alcoholic beverages to 1:00 A.M. during the whole year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the hours when such sales may be made are established by the Virginia A~soholic Beverage <br />Control Board and may be altered or amended thereby. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the Co'moil of the City$of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the time of sale <br />of alcoholic beverages be extended ~rom 12:00 midnight to 1:00 A.M. during the whole year. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED ~ ~IiB CIty 6~erk is hereby aUthorized and directed to transmit a certified <br />copy of this resolution to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board." <br /> <br /> <br />
