This establishes a setback line on George Washington Highway between Elm Avenue
and the Naval Shipyard gate near Chestnut Street. It will reserve a 100 ft. right-
of-way through this section of the street.

This is:recommended since Effingham Street is being extended into George Washington
Highway and it carries a 100 ft. right-of-way. By the establishment of this setback
it will prohibit any future construction in this setback line."

On motion of Mr. Holley the following ordinance was approved on first reading and by
the following vote:

"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CTTY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, t961,
BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 31-46.3, ESTABLISHING A BUILDING
SETBACK LINE FOR GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY BETWEEN CHESTNUT STREET AND
ELM AVENUE."

Ayes: Holley, Johnson, King, Smith (R), Turner, Barnes
Nays: None

70-317 "I recommend that the attached ordinance be placed on first reading.
