<br />"RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. ROBERT F. McMURRAN FOR SERVICE ON THE PORTSMDUTH
<br />LIBRARY BOARD
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS: Mrs. Robert F. McMurran has served effectively on the Portsmouth Library Board
<br />of the City of Portsmouth, Va., for nine years, contributing much time and talents to pro-
<br />jects and programs of benefit to our citizenry and the City Government; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that dedicated and unselfish service involves per-
<br />sonal sacrifices and inconveniences, not only to the individual but frequently to family and
<br />business; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, members of boards and commissions historically have demonstrated an unceasing
<br />willingness to be of service, contributing largely to the advancement of importan programs
<br />initiated for the general welfare of our'citizens.
<br />
<br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Va. that the
<br />grateful appreciation of the citizens of Portsmouth, and the City Government be hereby ex-
<br />pressed for the valuable service rendered by the recipient of this commendation.
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the
<br />City Council, and that a copy be presented to Mrs. Robert F. McMurran as a token of the
<br />esteem in which the recipient is held by the citizens of Portsmouth."
