We will <br />receive $160,000 in Federal and State funds and the City is required to expend $80,000 for <br />the construction of this park. <br /> <br />Bids were received for the site work on this park as follows: <br /> <br />Cotton Brothers, Inc. <br />Higgerson-Buchanan <br />Portsmouth Paving Corp. <br /> <br />$207,521.40 <br />$211,017.50 <br />$221,025.50 <br /> <br /> Funds allocated for this site work were substantially over the estimates for the work. <br />It was necessary ~o delete the boat basin and the boat dock to bring the construction costs <br />within the estimate. .Negotiations were conducted with Cotton Brothers, the low bidder, and <br />the cost reduced to $160:14!,40. S..Department <br />of Housing and Urban Development for a grant under Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961 as ame <br />This grant is for the acquisition and development of several locations chosen for Portsmouth' <br />Parks-In-Cities Project 70. These recreation and mini parks are being placed in low-income, <br />high density neighborhoods. Federal guidelines require that these projects be developed in <br />sections uhose median family income is $5,000 or less. The proposals for these site are <br />tailored to insure maximum use of the facilities by ali age groups.
