<br /> 71-458 - The following letter received from Director of City Planning was read:
<br />
<br /> "At its regular monthly meeting on October S, 1961, the City Planning Commission re-
<br />viewed a group housing project proposal for Colonial Arms Apartments on a five acre tract
<br />of land"fronting Claremont Avenue. Engineers Freeman and Johnson represented Applicant
<br />O'Neal. Proposed are 72 two bedroom apartments with adequate off-street parking, a swimming
<br />pool and a recreation area. The site was specifically zoned Residential R-60 for this pur-
<br />pose. The Planning Commission resolved to approve detail of this group housing project site
<br />plan, contingent on one correction; namely, that the peripheral parking either be widened by
<br />fiv~ £eet .to satisfy standards for~perpendicular~parking or redrawn to 60 degrees for the
<br />width shown on ths site plan. Engineer Freeman has indicated that this correction will be
<br />finalized prior to ths meeting when your approval is sought."

<br /> "I am writing~to ~espactfully request a chance to speak gt the next City Council meeting
<br />My speech will entail an opposition to the purchase of school buses. My group is also opposoc
<br />to any State or Federal grant for the purpose of purchasing buses. ~e have petitions to
<br />present to Council stating these facts."

<br />Mrs. Sandie Cahoon spoke and present6d the~following petition:
<br />
<br /> "The following petition ms a protest of Citizens against the compulsory busing of
<br />school children, and against-the purchasg Of any type~buses for the~purpose of perpetuating
<br />this plan. Also, we oppose any level of government in trying to obtain funds for such a
<br />purpose. Signed E. W. Elliott, 1804 Barclay Avenue and others" (See Exhibit 71-4S9)
