June 15, 1972 <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Raymond Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, <br />on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> following <br />the/ordinance was approved <br /> <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 13-27 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br /> VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO BILLING AND COLLECTION PROCEDURES FOR TRASH <br /> AND GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Johnson, King, Irvine Smith, Rmymond Smith, Barnes <br /> Nays: Holley, Turner <br /> <br /> ?2-226 - "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend it be placed on first reading. <br />~is appropriates $1,570,675 for various capital projects that have been authorized or need <br />to be implemented in the near future. <br /> <br /> The following projects are to be financed with this appropriation: <br /> <br /> $355,000--balance needed to complete contract on Manor High School. <br /> <br /> $149,965~ihis was remodeling and addition to Truxtun Elementary School. <br /> This has not been financed through the capital budget but has <br /> been completed for some time. <br /> <br /> · $150,000--Drainage improvements that need to be accomplished in the area <br /> of Victory and Airline Boulevards due to construction of the <br /> shopping center. <br /> <br /> $ 50,000--This is needed for equipment and furnishings needed for the operation of Sleepy Hole Recreation Park. <br /> <br /> $ 25,000--Widening of Willett Drive between High Street and West Road. <br /> <br /> $ 7,000--Replacement of heating and air conditioning units that have gone bad in the Naval Museum. <br /> <br /> $ 12,000--City's share in engineering and design for pump station and force main for Brandon Square. <br /> <br /> 2,S00--Bngineering study for sanitary sewers for Edgefield. <br /> <br /> 7,000--City's share in a 10-inch force main on Coast Guard Road. <br /> <br />59,210--For development of Parks-in-Cities under a Federal grant. <br /> City's share is S0%. <br /> <br />$532,000--Final payment of City's share of cost for construction of <br /> London Boulevard.
