<br /> Of course, providing additional lanes on the Churchland Bridge will be a very expensive
<br />undertaking regardless of the method use&. Diversion of the $2 million currently earmarked
<br />for West High Street would provide only a relatively small fraction of the cost and, at pre-
<br />sent, I simply cannot optimistically anticipate the additional funds becoming available.
<br /> However, in relation to the other proposed improvements in the Ten Year Fi§cal Plan for
<br />the City of Portsmouth, the funds for the improvement to West High Street will not become
<br />available until the latter part of the plan. When these funds do become available and the
<br />West High Street improvement has been:~.accomplished by the city as indicated in the resolutionl
<br />the Highway Commission probably will give consideration to diverting these funds to other
<br />improvements within the City of Portsmouth's"
