Three bids were received as follows: <br /> <br />1. Aldo Construction Corporation <br /> <br />$18,057.05 <br /> <br />2. Portsmouth Paving Corporation <br /> <br />$18,520.75 <br /> <br />3. Potter Construction Corporation <br /> <br />$18,919.85 <br /> <br /> I recommend that the low bidder, Aldo Construction Corporation, be awarded a contract <br />for this work and that the proper City officials be authorized to sign such a contract." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, A!do Construction Corporation being <br />low-bidder, was awarded the contract and proper City officials be authorized to sign, was <br />adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-503 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend its approval. This appropriates <br />$5,750 from the Capital Improvement Fund for operation of the Summer Youth Employment Progra] <br />The grant will be used to pay for transportation to and from the Naval Shipyard from desig- <br />nated pick-up stations within the. City. This~grant was secured in conjunction with the <br />Naval Shipyard by the Mayor's Manpower Development and Employment Commission. <br /> <br />These are 100% Federal funds which will be received prior to the program completion." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Holley, the ~lowing ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $3,750.00 FROM THE GENERAL CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT <br />FUND FOR THE t972 SUMMER YOUTH TRANSPORTATION PROGRAm." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-304 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend its approval. This appropriates <br />$44,821 from the Capital Improvement Fund for operation of the Police-Community Relations <br />Program from March 2, 1972 through March 1, 1973. T~e Federal grant received for this pro- <br />gram includes funding for personnel, equipment and miscellaneous expenses as follows: <br /> <br />1. Personnel $18,000 <br /> <br />2. Consultant Services <br /> <br />$ 1~000 <br /> <br />3. Travel $ 3,750 <br /> <br />4. Equipment $ 6,345 <br /> <br />5. Other expenses $15,726 <br /> <br />All above listed are 100% Federal funds to be received by the City on a quarterly basis <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, the follCwing ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote~ <br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO.APPROPRIATE $44,821.00 FROM THE1 GENERAL CAPITAL IMPRovEMENT <br /> FUND FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE POLICE COMMUNITY'%RELATIONS GRANT." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 72-505 "I submit the attached ordinance and recommend its approval. This appropriate <br />$52,501 from the General Fund for operation of parking lots and parking meters for the Ports <br />mouth Parking Authority for fiscal year 1972-73. <br /> <br /> As of July 1, 1972, the City contracted with the Parking Authority for the operation <br />and administration of the parking lots and meters. All costs incurred will be reimbursed <br />100% by the Authority on a quarterly basis. For the past 18 months, this work has been <br />contracted by the Parking Authority to John Flora ~ Associates whose contract was terminated <br />as of June 30, 1972. Personnel employed by John Flora for this operation are now in the <br />employment of the City." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Smith, the following ordinance was <br />approved on first reading, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $32,301.00 FROM THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE <br />OPERATION OF THE PORTSMOUTH PARKING AUTHORITY." <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
