Each of these streets is a so-called 'paper street' with no known utilities or <br />drainage facilities located therein. <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />S-72-9 <br /> <br />Petition of American Legion Post 190 and David L. Green, by Attorney <br />Archie Elliott, Jr., Esq. for a street closure for-Summit Avenue and <br />described as follows: Ail that certain street situate in the City <br />of Portsmouth, State of Virginia, and known and designated as Summit <br />Avenue (formerly Gayle Avenue) on the plat of Magruder's Addition to <br />the City of Portsmouth, recoreded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit <br />Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in Map Book 3, at page 5, <br />and bounded and described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at the South- <br />western corner of lot number 123; thence running in an easterly direction <br />parallel to Summit Avenue (formerly Gayle Avenue) along the southern <br />boundaries of lots numbered 123,.124, 125, 126, 127, 128 and 129. Two <br />hundred ten feet to th~ southeastern corner of lot numb er 129; thence in <br />a southerly direction to the northeastern corner of lot number 1~3; thence <br />in a westerly direction parallel to Summit Avenue 210 feet to the north- <br />western corner of lot number 1S0; thence in a northerly direction to <br />the point of beginning. It being the same property which was designated <br />as Gayle Avenue (now Summit Avenue) on the plat of 'Magruder's Addition <br />to the City of Portsmouth', dated January 5, 1892 and duly recorded in <br />the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia <br />in ~p Book 3, at page 5. <br /> <br />S-72-10 <br /> <br />Petition of Geraldine G. Harris, H. E. Wheatley and Mrs; Margaret F. <br />Wheatley, by Attorney J. S. Livesay, Jr., for closure of an alley des- <br />cribed as follows: That certain alley, 20 feet in width, situate in <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, designated as a portion of Fifth <br />Street, laying between lot 2, block J., as shown on the plat of Garden <br />Homes, recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City <br />of Chesapeake, formerly Norfolk County, Virginia in Map Book 21, pages <br />68 and 69, and Lot 14, Block H, of said Garden Homes, extending from <br />the south line of Greenwood Drive southward to the north line of Barclay <br />(formerly Rose) Avenue, a distance of two hundred seventeen feet. <br />(This alley is between parcels 14 and 15 on Tax Plate 464)" <br /> <br />Motion of Mr. Smith and seconded by Mr. Johnson, to be referred to the City Attorney <br />proper handling, was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Early, Holley, Johnson, King, Smith, Wentz, Barnes <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
