?2-440 The following letter from Mr. Donald K. Hobday, 5805 Hawthorne Lane, was read:
"On this date (Oct.2), my wife, Mrs. Bernice H. Hobday, saw the city machine that cuts
up tree limbs on a side street (Heather Road) near our home and walked over and asked the
attendant if he would bring the machine over to our street and cut up some tree limbs for her~
He stated that he had already bee~ on our street and ~ould not come back until a week from
now, but if she would drag the limbs over to the machine, he would cut them up for her. Thi~
involved dragging the limbs through another neighbor's yard and placing them on still another
neighbor's lawn which is city property at the street. My wife, and my son who had arrived
home from school by this time, dragged the limbs over to the machine. When the truck returnee
to the machine, the city employees could not get the machine motor started and therefore coul¢
not cut up the limbs. When asked to carry the limbs away on the truck, they refused and my
wife and son had to drag the limbs back to our yard. When asked if they could get another
truck or machine, the city employees were very arrogant and both waved in a sarcastic manner
as they drove off.

It seems to me that we deserve better service and treatment from those employees whose
salary we pay with the exorbitant taxes that we pay the city.

This, Gentlemen, is not a case of demanding serrices, it is only requesting courtesy and
a small return for a large investment."
